The PGWP is a very popular pathway for students to gain permanent residence in Canada, but due to COVID19 students weren’t able to fly and study in their dream college/universities. Shortly after the travel restrictions were announced, many changes were made to the immigration system one by one. Recently IRCC popularized the two-step process for students to gain study permits even after not submitting a complete application. Students will then have to submit the missing documents before traveling to Canada. Prior to this, they will be starting their course online.
This period of time that students will be studying online from their home countries will be counted when students are applying for PGWP. The only requirement is that at least half the course has to be completed while in Canada itself. This is applicable for students that apply before the 15th of September. This is also applicable for students who start their courses in the year 2020.
