International students in Canada accord to the country’s economy in a large proportion. Since the world was hit by the pandemic, Immigration Minister Marco E.L. Mendicino has been making numerous alterations for the betterment of immigrants in Canada or applicants that wish to come to Canada. The fall season is just around the corner and is usually the time when Canada welcomes a number of students from across the globe. This year a new program is being made current that is aimed at international students.
This program includes the following perks:
1. Granting priority study permits to all applicants that have already submitted their applications online before September 15, 2020.
2. The time that the students will spend studying online will be counted towards their eligibility for PGWP, But they need to do at least 50% of their course/program in Canada.
3. A 2 stage approval process is being implemented for those students who are not able to complete all documentation due to the COVID19 pandemic.
Students will be granted permits to study online in the comfort of their home country but after the temporary process is over, students will be asked to submit the remaining documents and their file will be checked again. They will need an approved permit to immigrate to Canada. It is possible that the results can be negative. The program is introduced to support students. In the words of Marco Mendicino “We value the contribution of young people seeking a high-quality education in Canada, and we’re making every effort to minimize how current challenges affect their plans and dreams for the future.”
